How to use Autel MaxiSys MS906BT Diagnostic Tool to reset throttle body calibration for vehicles? Today I’m gonna try it on a Honda City 2000 to show the procedure.
Having been connect MS906BT with OBD, press
Diagnostics >> Honda >> Automatic selection >> Read, OK >> Japan >> City >> Yes >> Diagnosis >> Control unit >> Engine – PGM FI >> Special functions >> TP position check
Simply operate as the tips:
Honda software will reset the TP learning value.
Need to clean the throttle body at the same time if reset the “TP learning value”.
Press “Yes” to continue.
Please ensure the gear shift is in neutral.
Set the parking brake.
TP learning value has been cleared.
Clean the throttle body.
Please do the idle learn procedure when the engine speed is unstable. * Make sure all electrical items(A/C, audio, rear window defogger, lights, etc.) are off. * Turn the ignition switch on, wait for 2s. * Start the engine, and hold it at 3000rpm with no load(in Park or neutral) until the radiator fan comes on, or until the engine coolant temperature reaches 90°C(194°F). * Let the engine idle for a minimum of 5 minutes with no load.
Note: if the radiator fan from running, don’t count its running time for 5 minutes.
Done!
As upgraded version of MS906/ DS808/ MP808, Autel MS906BT added ECU coding functions, and also supports oil reset, EPB/ TPMS/ ABS/ SRS/ BMS/ IMMO service, DPF regeneration, SAS calibration, etc.
If you are interested in LAUNCH X431 TSGUN TPMS WAND Car Tire Pressure Monitoring Tool, the below link subscribe all the details, for Launch CRT 511, they are not available yet.
Today we’re going to bring you a review of OBDSTAR X300 Pro4 and Xtool X100 PAD3.
Generally, they have similar price less than 1,000$, and they can do key programming for 80-85% budget cars. (Not good for Benz, BMW…)You may need it after you’ve worked on initial programming with like Kess for a while and customers start to ask key programming for you.
The Xtool has free update for 2 years, while the OBDSTAR is one year. The Xtool has more diagnostic functions, and there is a car diagnostic menu, much more powerful.
For others they are similar, EEPROM, IMMO… menus are separate on PRO4.
RU cars Can they program Renault Lada Vesta? These platforms are based on continental blocks. The two scanners basically read them for diagnosis, but Xtool PAD3 sometimes cannot make my Lada when I lost all keys, although when adding it makes them. X300 PRO4 never has this problem. It’s able to read FLASH and add keys, but it happens that it cannot read it when all keys lost.
US cars I have a Grand Cherokee 2006, but I couldn’t read it on PRO4, and the pin code is a trouble. I have done more than ten Cherokee and never had any question with this.
Toyota smart key Both fine, even Camry 2021 adds right. They all have simulators for all keys lost, read data and write it to the simulator and the car comes. But, for Aqua 2014, the Xtool reads EEPROM without problems, but I couldn’t write down the PH94 type.
Benz If you have to do Mercedes-Benz, the Xtool doesn’t know how to do them fully but can add key for young Benz if you get a KC501 Key Programmer. Xtool goes further, and they add more professional cars. That is what I don’t smell on this OBDSTAR.
Summary Better to take another device because it’ll be more professional, Xhorse, MB tools…If I have the PRO4, I would never learn BMW and Mercedes, and never restore keys fully to Toyota smart key. Of course, there are more advantages for this Xtool because diagnosis is strong, 2 years warranty, 2 years free updates. If you want to make a Mercedes or BMW with budget, you can still consider Xtool.
Freeze Frame Data like an airplane’s black box, whenever the computer detects a fault when an issue happens it will stores freeze frame data related to the issue. It is so important for diagnosing faults that it is never deleted or overwritten. It tells you how the other parameters or components were performing when the ECU stored the fault code. When the engine computer (PCM) detects a fault and turns the Check Engine light on, it also stores a freeze frame related to that fault. We use the word ‘freeze’ because this data is saved and frozen the moment. You can view this information to find the cause of the problem. The freeze frame data will remain in the obd2 until the code is repaired and cleared.
How Can You Access a Freeze Frame?
You will need a obd2 scan tool to access the freeze frame data. Connect to the obd2 port under dashboard. Different scanner will have different menu, there are a lot of options for you to choose from such as reading codes, erase codes, data streams. You can find there the freeze frame or freeze frame data.
Manufacturer-authorized mechanics have manufacturer-specific scanners that resemble laptop PC that will display everything the computer records.
2 How to read Freeze Frame Date?
Below we list this chart so you can read and interpret your freeze frame data quickly.

Long FT1 -3.0
the oxygen sensor or O2 sensor has not switched yet to long-term fuel trim for the fuel injectors.
Difference between Freeze Frame Data and Live Data
Freeze Frame Data compared with live data the advantage is that you do not need to watch on the scanner when you drive. You can do your own thing the data will be still stored for you and you can check them whenever you want to. Also the data is saved at different intervals you do not need to do any manual work. It will be easier when you take your vehicle to a mechanic you can print out of the data and share with an expert who know how to interpet the information or you can find the information online and helps you solve the problem.
Live date is very useful too. It can tells you the condition of your vehicle at any given moment and help you quickly identify where the problem be.
How to clear Freeze Frame Data Using an OBD2 Scan Tool?
You can use OBD tool to reset and clear the Freeze Frame. Freeze Frame is removed when you reset the MIL and clear the OBD2 trouble codes. It’s an all-in-one action that resets all the diagnostics data in the car. However, the trouble codes and other data will come back if the problem detected again.
I have an Autel MaxiSys M908S Pro with the J2534 interface and works great. You can do all tests for nearly all brands of vehicles (even Tesla they begun to support it from this year), you can check all modules of the vehicles, same as factory scanner tools, read and clear codes, read all live data, make all bi-directional controls, adaptations, resets, etc. etc….there’s nearly nothing it can’t do, except module reprogramming which you should use it through the OEM websites. The J2534 passtrough interface is completely compatible with all brands for OEM programming.
But you can get also the MaxiSys M908S normal (without the Pro) and is a little cheaper because doesn’t include the J2534 interface, instead it comes with a regular Bluetooth VCI unit. If you are not going to do reprogramming, with the MS908S alone you have enough.
Both tools do the same, the difference is the VCI. In another word, you can buy the regular M908S scanner first and then add the J2534 interface later, no problem. If you buy them new separate will be more expensive than buying all together in the M980S Pro bundle, but if you find good used deal buying separate, no problem. Is good also to have the regular Bluetooth VCI as is smaller than the J2534 interface and more handy to use. You can buy all them separate and then only need to pair the Bluetooth of any of them to the scanner to activate.
About the updates is quite expensive, about 795 US$ a year, compared to other makes and models, but their after-sales service is Top Quality. I bought my unit used and I had some issues to transfer the unit to my name and register it, and Autel Support help me flawlessly to do it without any problem.
The unit works great, never had any issue with it and I use it daily. Is my primary main scanner, I also have Snap-On, OTC and Launch, but the Autel is my main one. I do not update it every year, as I said it is expensive, and I don’t use to work on brand new cars, so I usually buy an update every 2 or 3 years and that is enough to keep the tool ready for work.
In another word, About the updates, you always can update when you want with Autel, and always you will receive the latest updates including all the software released during the time you didn’t had the subscription active. If you end your subscription, the tool will continue working 100% with the current software you have installed on it forever, and the day you purchase the subscription again it will download all the pending software to make it up to the day. You don’t have to pay extra for missed updates, just subscribe again one time, and the tool will get all the updates available during the 1 year time period of the subscription until it expires again.
If you find a good deal in one of them you will not be disappointed. If you are more in a DIY type of work, maybe you don’t need a Top of the Line scanner like that, as I said is more oriented to the workshop professional use, and Autel has also some other models cheaper that nearly do all same functions and is enough for less intensive use.
Good to know:
None of this scanners (Autel, Launch, Snap-on, etc. will NOT allow you to do coding or removing the speed limits or reading files of modules. This scanners are only for diagnostics, not programming or modifying files of the chips inside the modules.
The price for x431 seems to be around £600 compared to £2200 for the autel? Can it do same functions and bidirectional scanning and testing.
The answer is: You have to check websites from Lauch and Autel and compare functions that can do every scanner, but of course one for $600 does not do the same performace as one of $2000. Cheap ones usually don’t have bi-directional controls or sometimes can’t access all modules, etc…so read well the specifications of each one before buying them. J2534 programming is updating the files inside the modules but using OEM manufacturer newer provided files, NOT EDITING OR MODIFYING the files. If you want to modify files none of this scanners will do it.
In the Autel you only can run Autel software as far as I know, every scanner brand can run ONLY their own diagnostic software.
To sum up:
Using Autel M908S Pro with the J2534, you can do everything about DIAGNOSTICS and factory programming (if you buy the J2534 interface), but you WILL NOT do coding, or programming modifications or “tuning” or anything that means modifying the original performance of the vehicle. It only allows to do modifications on adaptations, change some configuration parameters, activate new installed modules, write VIN numbers to new modules (if allowed) or do everything an OEM dealer can do with its official diagnostic tool.
But as I said, they are for DIAGNOSTIC, not for coding, cloning or doing modifications to the OEM programming inside the modules. For this you need other tools that are NOT SCANNERS.
Today I want to speak to you briefly about the first steps you need to take after purchasing your new Autel tool or tablet and before you start using it on a vehicle. No matter if you’ve just purchased a TS508 TPMS Tool or one of our new MaxiBAS battery analysis tools or any of our MaxiSys or MaxiIM IM608 / IM508 tablets, you need to take the time to register and update the software on these tools.
We know every tool manufacturer you buy from urges you to register their tools and it seems like maybe a waste of time when you just want to start using them.
But Autel products, unlike the lawnmower or the headphones are essentially computers and like every computer, they run on software, Autel doesn’t just release software updates annually or even semi-annually, some of our tools are updated as frequently as monthly, we are not only offering new model year coverage but we’re offering revisions and bug fixes to the current software, so we can get the car repaired the first time every time, remember when you get your new Autel tablet or tool, when you take it out of the box, be sure to register it.
Part 1: How to create an Autel account?
Users that already have accounts and other Autel tools can add a new tool to their pre-existing account be advised, though some of the smaller DIY products do not require registration, but they may be eligible for software updates.
1. Please visit https://pro.auteltech.com/ from your PC.
Select “Create an Autel ID”, this will be the ID that you use to sign into your account with, it has to be a valid email.
So after entering your email, click “verification code”, the site will automatically send you a six-digit code to your email. This is done to make sure you entered a valid email address, you will be given 60 seconds to enter that verification code, so check your email and either write down the code or copy and paste it to enter it back on the verification code line, if you don’t see that verification code in your inbox, please check your spam or junk folder.
Once the codes is entered, continue with filling in your info.
At the bottom, enter the four characters that show you listed in the image, you will then need to check the “send me email box” and then “agree to the terms”.
2. sign in Autel account
Now it’s time to sign in to your Autel account, this is also done by visiting
https://pro.auteltech.com/, remember your email address is your Autel ID when you’re signing in.
After you sign in, you’ll need to register your Autel tool.
Serial Number: you can locate the serial number and “Register password” in your device when you power it up. Some tools you have to click on “Settings” and select the “About” app. On some of Autel smaller DIY products, the information could be found under my device.
Register password: is a six digit code, this code would only be used to register your product, it is not the password you created to login to your account.
After you’ve entered the serial number and register password, enter the code shown on the screen, then click “Submit”.
Good to know:
Now your Autel Account and tool have been successfully registered.
1. Now if you’re already an Autel user and you already have an account prior when you sign in, click on “Product registration” on the left side of the page and fill in the information required. Once again, please note the register password is a six digit code found inside your device’s “About” or a tool information screen.
2. You can add as many Autel tools as they want to the same account, you do not have to create multiple accounts each time you get a new tool.

Problem:BMW ISTA+ “Display” Function isn’t working, files were downloaded from forum, all files were extracted and unblocked. Car can be identified and fault tree is shown. Everything works fine, but when I create a test plan for faults and click ‘display’, the next page is blank and ends up semi-freezing the program.
How to fix BMW ISTA+ “Display” Function is blank?
To do a fresh installation again,
Disconnect from internet,
Stop antivirus programs, windows defender or any software that may block files,
Use 7zip to extract all files then try again.
Follow the installation guide, pay attention to windows software like .net framework 3.0,3.5,4.0,4.5, VC++ all versions starting from 2003 up to at least 2015 x86 and 64 bit, and java.
You asked for the sitting for the Ediabas folder in Rheingold folder ediabas.ini , interface, it should be set to “REMOTE” not “STD:OBD”, as I am also using a INPA K+DCAN not an ICOM. Interface = STD:OBD must be set in the C: Ediabas folder only.
I am not sure if this has something to do with the screen freezing problem but I think it is worth to say.
For flashing: INPA should work and connection to the car verified that also will start the server, close INPA and start winkfp providing you installed spdaten properly.
PS: It is always recommended to install BMW software on a fresh copy of windows.
Alright, if you bought any of INPA K+DCAN or BMW ICOM from OBD2.LTD, remote assistance is available if any problem.
